Lot 686: Two Pairs of Sterling Silver and Opal Drop Earrings
A collection of two matched pairs of drop earrings housed in a brown card box. The first pair consists of curved, elongated triangular drops in silver-toned metal featuring inlaid white opal panels with a multi-coloured play-of-colour including red, green, and blue flashes. These are fitted with hook backings. The second pair comprises silver-toned oval drop earrings set with two translucent cabochon opals in rub-over settings showing orange, green, and red flashes. These are fitted with shepherd’s hook backings featuring wire coil and ball details. The card box lid bears a handwritten inscription in purple ink reading ‘2 pairs of Sterling Silver + Fire Opal Earrings Res £20’ and a further mark ‘V:932’ in the corner. While the packaging describes the metal as sterling silver, no fineness hallmarks or maker’s marks are visible on the jewellery itself to confirm solid metal content; the items are of silver-toned appearance throughout.
