Lot 869: An Antique Upholstered Commode Armchair
An early 20th-century commode armchair constructed from a dark-stained hardwood. The piece features a high padded back, padded armrests, and a lift-up seat, all finished in a green and gold patterned textile with a scrolled wave motif and secured by brass-headed upholstery nails. The hinged seat opens to reveal a wooden commode aperture containing an original internal metal ring for supporting a vessel. The frame is of solid wood construction with square-section legs. No maker marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the object.
