Lot 880: An Assortment of Vintage Haberdashery and Sewing Supplies in a Wooden Cabinet and a Marbled Box
A collection of vintage sewing notions and storage containers. The first container is a rectangular upright wooden cabinet with a hinged door and three interior shelves. The interior face of the door features a hand-drawn heart in purple ink and a handwritten inscription reading From Jan. The shelves contain a circular red metal tin for D. Politi & Son, with printed text including D. POLITI & SON, POLITI’S RAHAT LACOUM, BRITISH MANUFACTURE TURKISH DELIGHT, LONDON. N.16. Also included is a small clear glass storage jar, a coiled blue flexible measuring tape with black markings, a classic red fabric tomato-form pincushion with a green felt top and yellow seeds, and various pieces of paper ephemera.
The second container is a rectangular cardboard box finished with a grey and white marbled-effect paper. This box contains a loose assortment of haberdashery items, including approximately 10-12 reels of thread on both wooden and plastic spools in various colours such as purple, pink, dark green, royal blue, and yellow. Other items include a backing card with three brown buttons, a bundle of black cord bound with a red, white, and blue paper band, a roll of black elasticated tape, a length of brown satin-like ribbon, and a handwritten card reading HOOKS & EYES Trouser Boys. Two embroidered textile patches are present: a circular patch featuring a pirate character with the inscription CAPTAIN ROGER, and a partially visible yellow smiley face patch. The box also contains a printed information leaflet with the word READ and a landscape image, referencing a Lancashire-based organisation with the postcode LA5 9ES.
