Lot 892: Edwardian Mahogany Fall Front Writing Bureau
A mahogany fall-front writing bureau of Edwardian style, dating to the late nineteenth or early twentieth century. The bureau features a sloped fall-front that opens to reveal a polished mahogany writing surface and an interior fitted with at least one small drawer and pigeonholes. The construction includes a shaped gallery top, pierced fretwork-style side supports, and two open shelves to the base resting on turned spindle uprights. The fall-front is fitted with two circular patinated metal drop handles with embossed foliate designs and a central lock escutcheon. The internal drawer features a smaller matching pull. No maker’s marks, stamps, or signatures are visible on the piece.
