Buyer's Premium:

An English oak fall-front bureau of early 20th-century manufacture. The piece features an oak carcass with a medium-brown finish highlighting the natural grain and medullary rays. The fall-front opens on internal brass hinges to reveal a fitted interior comprising six open pigeonholes and a central small drawer with a black knob handle. The lower section contains three full-width drawers, each with a moulded perimeter and two circular embossed decorative metal pull handles. The upper and middle drawers are also fitted with central metal escutcheons for the locks. The drawer sides are constructed from a lighter secondary hardwood and are joined with dovetails. The top edge of the uppermost drawer side is stamped with the characters MADE IN ENGLAND. The bureau is raised on four large turned bulbous bun feet mounted on square plinths.
