Lot 52: Three Heavy-Duty Forged Steel Industrial D-Shackles

A trio of heavy-duty industrial D-shackles, also known as Dee shackles, of varying sizes and designs, constructed from forged steel. The collection includes a large bolt-pin shackle with a significant hexagonal bolt head and a threaded end. The body of this shackle bears impressed characters including 3 / 4 above S W L followed by 4 T, indicating a safe working load of 4 tons. The second shackle is a medium-sized screw-pin type with a flat-sided head, finished in weathered white paint. The third is a small standard screw-pin shackle featuring a collared pin with a hole for a marlinspike or tommy bar. These items display the robust construction typical of mid-20th-century industrial hardware and possess a heavy, authentic patina.

Condition report:
These items are in used, salvaged industrial condition. The large shackle shows heavy surface grime, old grease, and minor surface pitting (photo 1). The threads are intact but obscured by oxidation and debris (photo 3). The medium shackle exhibits significant paint flaking, heavy surface rust, and wear to the screw-pin head (photo 3). The small shackle shows extensive, uniform orange-brown oxidation across the entire surface (photo 2).
