Lot 637: Two Mid-Century Frameless Bevelled Glass Portrait Mirrors
Not sold
Two frameless wall mirrors featuring integrated photographic portraits, dating from the mid-20th century. The first mirror is rectangular with an oval central reserve containing a monochromatic portrait of a standing young child in a light-coloured dress and white shoes. The mirror plate features bevelled edges and clipped corners, secured by four metal corner clips. The second mirror is rectangular with bevelled edges and contains a hand-tinted photographic portrait of a seated infant wearing a smocked white dress with red and blue embroidery. Both pieces represent a popular style of domestic decorative photography from the 1930s-1940s. Each mirror is backed with a dark board and retains its original mounting clips. There are no maker’s marks or manufacturer labels visible on either piece.
