A glazed terracotta oval lidded roasting dish of traditional European form, designed for oven use. The set comprises a deep oval base and a matching domed lid. The interior of the dish and the exterior of the base are finished in a dark brown vitreous glaze, while the base interior features eleven raised longitudinal ridges intended to elevate food during the roasting process. The lid is unglazed on the exterior, displaying a natural matte terracotta finish, and is decorated with a repeating moulded relief pattern of fruiting vine sprigs around the sides.
