A mid-20th century mahogany chest of drawers in the George III fashion. The chest features a bow-fronted form with three graduated drawers, each constructed with machine-cut dovetail joints and light-coloured secondary wood interiors. The exterior is finished with highly figured flame mahogany veneers, complemented by cross-banded mahogany to the overhanging top and a curved apron. The drawer fronts are further embellished with hand-painted scrolling foliate and fleur-de-lis motifs in black to the corners. Each drawer is fitted with a pair of circular brass-tone ring pull handles featuring stamped backplates, and the top drawer includes a central brass-lined keyhole. The piece is supported by a continuous plinth base.
