Lot 927: An Arts and Crafts Oak Two-Over-Two Chest of Drawers
An Arts and Crafts oak chest of drawers featuring a traditional two-over-two configuration, with two short drawers positioned above two full-width long drawers. The chest is constructed from solid oak, displaying prominent medullary rays and open grain characteristic of the species. The exterior has been stripped of its original finish, resulting in a pale, raw wood surface. The drawers are built with hand-cut dovetail joints. Each drawer is fitted with distinctive, oversized darkened metal backplates, likely copper or brass, featuring integrated escutcheons and ring-pull handles with lobed decorative edges. The carcase is supported on simple turned bun feet. There are no visible maker’s marks or manufacturer labels present on the piece.
