Dating to 1968, the composition depicts a stylised female figure dressed in an elegant turquoise and white gown, standing within a formal garden surrounded by trees, sculptural topiary and a classical ornamental urn.
The work displays distinctive mid-century modernist characteristics, combining simplified figurative forms, strong outlines, richly textured impasto brushwork and an atmospheric palette of deep greens, turquoise, muted pinks and warm cream tones.
Signed "Slater 68" to the lower right-hand corner.
