A collection of antique square-cut iron nails, manufactured using early machine-cut or hand-wrought methods from the 19th century. The assortment consists of masonry or common nails, characterised by their distinctive four-sided tapered shafts and flattened heads. The iron surfaces exhibit a heavy, consistent orange-brown oxidation patina across the entire group, indicating prolonged storage in a damp environment. The nails are contained within a vintage slatted wooden crate of nailed construction. The side of the crate features a red printed mark in capital letters reading "HOLLAND".
