Lot 991: An Urwin Oil on Board Street Scene

This auction ended on 31 October 2026.

Start price: £3

Estimated price: £3 - £5

Buyer's Premium: 20%

Sold for: £13

An oil on board street scene by the artist Urwin, executed in a heavy impasto technique. The composition depicts several stylized figures walking along a path or pavement beside a building and vibrant foliage. The artist has utilised a palette of muted purples, blues, and oranges, contrasted with a bright yellow focal point in the central tree or shrubbery. The thick application of paint creates a high-relief textured surface, with individual palette knife or brush marks clearly visible, particularly in the rendering of the figures’ clothing and the leaves. The work is signed URWIN in the lower right corner, with the characters incised into the wet paint. The painting is housed in a broad white-painted wooden frame with a simple stepped profile.
