Lot 1015: A Late Victorian Jacobean Revival Carved Oak Bookcase / Display Cabinet

A large carved oak bookcase / display cabinet from the late Victorian period, designed in the Jacobean fashion. The cabinet features a two-door upper section with leaded glass panes set within decorative Tudor-arch shaped wooden frames. The right-hand side comprises two solid oak cupboard doors, each featuring raised octagonal panels and central carved foliate bosses. The construction utilizes quarter-sawn oak, evident in the prominent medullary ray grain to the side panels. Decorative elements include carved reeding and a raised lozenge boss to the left vertical stile, finished with continuous bobbin-turned / bead and reel moldings to the upper and lower edges. The piece is supported by simple bracket feet. The interior is divided into five vertical compartments by fixed wooden partitions, showing a dark stained finish throughout. A white rectangular inventory tag is present on the interior, but it contains no legible manufacturer information.
