Lot 123: A Collection of British Late 19th and Early 20th Century Terracotta Garden Pots
This collection comprises an assortment of vintage garden terracotta and utilitarian stoneware items. The terracotta component includes a range of tapered flower pots in varying sizes, from small seedling pots to larger circular planters, and a rectangular terracotta trough-style planter. These pieces are constructed from plain, unglazed terracotta. The stoneware portion of the lot consists of one large two-tone jug with a strap handle, approximately seven jars or crocks of varying heights, and two small bottles or inkwells.
Condition report:
The items are in a used, as-found condition consistent with garden salvage. The terracotta pieces show significant weathering, including natural patina, moss growth, and white mineral efflorescence deposits. Multiple pieces exhibit minor chips to the rims and bases.
