Lot 167: Two items of industrial and domestic metalware comprising a cast iron cooking pot and a sheet metal chest
A collection of two utilitarian metal items dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The first item is a large capacity oval cooking pot or Dutch oven of cast iron construction. The vessel features two looped side handles and a fitted lid with a central bar handle. The second item is a rectangular industrial storage bin or chest constructed from sheet metal, likely iron or steel. It is designed with a simple rectangular form and includes a side-mounted ring pull handle. The chest retains remnants of a dark black painted finish. No maker marks are visible on either item.
Condition report:
Both items show significant overall surface oxidation and heavy rust consistent with age and exposure. The sheet metal chest exhibits significant corrosion and pitting throughout with substantial loss to the original painted finish.
