Lot 176: A Vintage Wonder Horse Spring-Mounted Rocking Horse
This vintage spring-mounted rocking horse is attributed to the Wonder Products Co., specifically the Wonder Horse model. The horse body is constructed from a dark, moulded plastic or hard rubber, featuring integral saddle and bridle detailing. The figure is suspended from a stationary tubular metal frame by four heavy-duty steel tension springs, designed to provide a rhythmic bouncing and rocking motion. The head is equipped with horizontal handlebars featuring white grips. A white adhesive lot tag is present on the forehead bearing the handwritten digits 9, 2, and 1.
Condition report:
The item is in a heavily weathered, as-found condition. The tubular metal frame and suspension springs show significant surface oxidation and rust throughout. The moulded body is heavily soiled with dust and grime, exhibiting substantial wear and loss to the original finish and colouration. The mechanical function and weight-bearing capacity of the springs are untested.
