Lot 214: A contemporary slatted teak garden bench
A contemporary teak garden bench of traditional slatted construction. The design features a seat of horizontal slats and a backrest with vertical slats, supported by a frame with square-section arms and uprights. The piece is assembled using mortise and tenon joinery. The bench is constructed from teak hardwood. Physical markings include a small white adhesive label on the left armrest printed with the number 212 and a handwritten paper tag suspended from the backrest inscribed Hardwood Garden seat.
Condition report:
The bench is in heavily weathered condition. The reddish-brown surface finish is flaking and peeling extensively across the entire frame. Areas where the finish has perished show characteristic silvering and grey weathering to the underlying timber. The structure appears complete, though the item requires comprehensive sanding and refinishing.
