Lot 263: A Collection of Assorted British and Continental Ceramics and Household Wares
A mixed group of ceramic items comprising various domestic and decorative wares. The collection includes an earthenware souvenir plate featuring a transfer-printed map of Cornwall titled Cornwall Land of History, finished with an embossed basketweave and floral border. Also present is an earthenware bowl with blue transfer-printed Chinoiserie-style decoration depicting birds and floral motifs with a scalloped rim. The lot includes a cylindrical salt-glazed stoneware storage jar with a rich brown glaze, characteristic of late 19th or early 20th-century production. Further items include a cream-glazed earthenware tureen lid decorated with pink and blue floral sprays, a large white-glazed earthenware circular divided dish or mould with three internal sections, and a white-glazed fluted bowl with a scalloped rim. An art pottery jug with a honey-coloured glaze and textured moulded exterior is also included, alongside various small wares such as a floral-decorated cream jug, a white mug, an egg cup with red line detail, an octagonal bowl, and several small glass or ceramic vessels. No manufacturer marks are visible on the items as positioned.
Condition report:
The items are in generally good condition, exhibiting minor surface wear, crazing, and small fleabite chips consistent with age and domestic use. No major cracks or significant restoration are apparent from visual inspection.
