Start price: £3

Estimated price: £5

Buyer's Premium:

A collection of ceramic tableware and decorative items, primarily of British regional pottery origin dating from the late 19th to the mid-20th century. The lot includes pieces of earthenware, ironstone, and bone china, decorated predominantly with transfer-printed designs, some featuring hand-coloured details and gilt highlights.

The collection features a Victorian-style cheese dish of wedge-form with a matching rectangular base, decorated with floral sprigs on a cream ground. Also included is a large octagonal serving bowl with a polychrome floral border, and a selection of tea and breakfast wares including a large cup with a pink-glazed interior and two square twin-handled plates with cobalt blue borders, resembling designs by makers such as Alfred Meakin.

The decorative plates comprise two examples with wide cobalt blue and gilt-accented borders featuring fruit motifs, a cabinet plate depicting a church within a wooded landscape, a blue and white transfer-printed landscape plate, and an Art Deco style square plate with stylised floral corner motifs. A small floral basket-form dish with an overhead handle is also present.

Condition report:

The cheese dish exhibits significant and uniform fine crazing to the glaze. General light surface wear and rubbing to the gilded rims are present across the collection, consistent with age and domestic use. No major chips, cracks, or visible repairs are noted from a visual overview.
