Lot 411: A Vintage Royal Automobile Club Grille Badge and an Assortment of Collectibles
The primary item in this lot is a Royal Automobile Club (RAC) car grille badge. The badge is manufactured from chrome-plated die-cast metal with a central vitreous enamel insert. The design consists of a circular blue enamel ground featuring a white interlocking RAC monogram, bordered by a laurel wreath and surmounted by a Tudor crown. This specific crown design was utilised by the RAC prior to 1953. The badge retains its metal mounting bracket at the base. The lot also contains an assortment of other items including a trio of brass horse brasses depicting British coinage designs for a 1917 penny, a 1967 halfpenny, and a 1956 farthing. Included is an Ingersoll Model XK9 Mains Power Pack in its original cardboard box, two small plastic novelty bottles, a red novelty block with text, a small framed line drawing of a rabbit, and a pair of silver-toned meditation balls in a presentation case.
Condition report:
The RAC badge is in good vintage condition with no visible chips or loss to the enamel. The chrome-plated frame shows light surface pitting and minor scratches consistent with mounting on a vehicle. The horse brasses exhibit surface tarnishing and minor marks. The Ingersoll box shows shelf wear, creasing, and edge rubbing. Other items appear in fair to good condition with age-appropriate wear.
