Lot 453: A Classic Gentleman's Umbrella with Leather-Wrapped Handle
A full-length gentleman’s umbrella featuring a solid black synthetic fabric canopy. The item is constructed with a metal shaft and ribs, terminating in a traditional curved crook handle. The handle is wrapped in a black textured leather material with visible stitching along the interior curve. A silver-toned metal collar is positioned at the junction of the handle and shaft, featuring small stamped marks that are currently illegible. The canopy is secured by a matching fabric tie-wrap with a decorative silver-toned metal button embossed with a stylized floral motif. The tip is finished with a brass-toned metal ferrule. The style is characteristic of traditional British umbrella manufacturing from the mid-to-late 20th century.
Condition report:
The umbrella is in used condition. The canopy shows surface dust and minor marking consistent with age and storage. The leather-wrapped handle exhibits scuffing and wear, particularly around the curve. Light tarnishing is present on the metal hardware. The opening and closing mechanism has not been tested.
