Lot 471: A Collection of Mid-20th Century Glazed Ceramic Art Deco Style Lever Door Handles
This collection consists of several lever-style door handle sets mounted on integrated ceramic backplates. The pieces are constructed from glazed ceramic with a high-gloss finish, exhibiting rounded streamline forms characteristic of the Art Deco period. The assortment features three distinct glaze finishes: mottled honey or amber, dark chocolate brown, and a dark iridescent metallic effect. The backplates are rectangular in form, with some examples featuring integrated keyhole apertures and others designed as shorter rose-style plates. The levers are attached to the backplates via metal hubs. No manufacturer marks are visible on the exterior surfaces.
Condition report:
The items are in good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and architectural salvage. There is a visible chip to the glaze on the corner of one honey-coloured backplate, exposing the white ceramic body. Minor surface scratches and flea bites are present across the surfaces. The metal hubs show signs of minor oxidation and surface grime. The sets are incomplete, lacking internal spindles and mounting screws.
