Lot 491: A Collection of Five Cut Glass Decanters and a Poole Pottery Map Plate
A collection of five cut glass decanters and a Poole Pottery decorative plate. The ceramic plate features a mid-century transfer-printed map of Poole Harbour and the Dorset coastline, including geographical labels for Sandbanks, Shell Bay, Lilliput, and Canford Cliffs. The design is rendered in a green, black, and white colour palette with a yellow rim and includes the Poole name integrated into the map design. It is fitted with a wire wall-hanging bracket.
The glass component consists of five lead crystal decanters of various forms: one square spirit decanter, one ovoid decanter, and three club-shaped decanters. The square decanter displays cross-hatched diamond and fan cutting with vertical fluting to the neck and carries a gold-toned foil label to the shoulder. The ovoid and club-shaped decanters feature variations of deep diamond and hobnail cutting. The lot includes four fitted faceted stoppers, comprising three ball-shaped and one spire-shaped, and one additional loose faceted stopper.
Condition report:
The glass appears clear without evidence of internal clouding or sick glass. Minor flea-bite chips may be present on the sharp cut edges and stoppers. The Poole Pottery plate shows no visible cracks or significant crazing to the face.
