Lot 518: A Collection of 20th Century Cut Crystal and Decorative Glassware
A collection of decorative glassware, primarily comprising lead cut crystal in various patterns. The group includes a square-form decanter with a fine diamond-cut hobnail pattern to the body, complete with a corresponding faceted globular stopper. Also included is a cylindrical crystal vase featuring complex geometric cutting, including starburst and criss-cross diamond motifs. A circular serving bowl features a deep repeating diamond-cut pattern and a scalloped crenulated rim. A second circular bowl displays a diamond-cut lower section surmounted by an etched foliate vine and leaf border. The collection is completed by a small shallow dish with a moulded floral and foliage design. The items are in the style of 20th-century British or European manufacturers such as Webb Corbett or Stuart. A white adhesive label for Liskeard Auction Rooms, Lot 518, is present on the scalloped bowl. No other maker’s marks or signatures are visible.
Condition report:
The items appear generally clear with no significant cloudiness or glass sickness visible. No major chips or cracks are apparent. Minor nicks consistent with age and use may be present on the faceted edges of the decanter stopper and the points of the scalloped bowl rim.
