Lot 535: A Collection of Six Pieces of Poole Pottery Traditional Hand-Painted Ware
A collection of six pieces of Poole Pottery traditional hand-painted ware. The lot comprises glazed earthenware items including a small cream jug with a loop handle and pinched spout, a lidded preserve or honey pot of barrel form with a notched lid and central finial, a rectangular tray with a scalloped interior rim, a cylindrical vase, a smaller cylindrical vessel, and a circular posy ring. Each piece is decorated with hand-painted floral sprays in a palette of purple, yellow, pink, and blue against a cream ground. Decorative accents include green dotted borders and polychrome banding. The underside of the pieces features the factory backstamp consisting of a leaping dolphin flanked by the words Poole and England, accompanied by a hand-painted artist cipher in green pigment.
Condition report:
The collection appears to be in good overall condition with no major chips, cracks, or visible repairs. Some pieces may exhibit light surface wear or minor crazing consistent with age and the nature of the earthenware body.
