Buyer's Premium:

This collection of mid-20th-century British ceramics is manufactured by Poole Pottery, Dorset, England. The items belong to the Compact range in the Chestnut pattern, designed by Robert Jefferson in the early 1960s. The pieces are constructed from glazed stoneware and are characterised by stackable, utilitarian forms with a distinctive ribbed linear texture on the borders and handles. The colour palette features a two-tone combination of a deep chestnut brown glaze and a contrasting cream or off-white glaze. The assortment comprises various pieces of tea and dinnerware, including cups with solid brown exteriors and white interiors, cream cups with brown-ribbed handles, and saucers and plates featuring cream centres with wide, dark brown borders featuring moulded radial ribbing. Also included is an oval-shaped gravy boat with a matching stand and a cylindrical lidded jar. The bases of the pieces bear the stamped marks POOLE ENGLAND within a rectangular border, or a stylized dolphin symbol with the text oven to tableware and microwave & freezer safe.

Condition report:

The items are in good overall condition, showing typical signs of light surface wear consistent with age and domestic use. No major chips, cracks, or visible repairs are noted. Some minor manufacturing variations in the glaze may be present.
