An assortment of 20th-century British and French flatware and table accessories. The collection features several boxed sets of stainless steel table knives manufactured by Gladwin Limited at the Embassy Works, Sheffield. These knives are fitted with cream-coloured composite handles and the blades bear etched marks for Gladwin Embassy, including a heraldic emblem. Also present is a cased set of six steak knives featuring black composite handles with brass-toned ferrules and bolsters, housed in a presentation box marked Made in France. The silver-plated (EPNS) selection includes a cased set of long-handled sundae or parfait spoons with circular bowls, a cased set of pastry forks with decorative terminals, and a cased set of fish forks with shaped tines. Table accessories include a cased pair of silver-plated open salts or small bowls, decorated with chased foliate and scroll motifs to the bodies. Additionally, the lot contains a quantity of loose silver-plated flatware, including large serving spoons and dessert spoons, with some pieces in the Kings pattern.
Condition report:
The collection is in overall good vintage condition. The stainless steel items show light surface scratching consistent with age and use. The silver-plated items exhibit various degrees of tarnish and would benefit from professional cleaning. The presentation boxes show typical shelf wear, scuffing, and some internal staining. No monograms are visible on the pieces.
