Lot 609: A Collection of 11 7-inch Vinyl Singles Including Wham! Shaped Disc
A collection of 11 7-inch vinyl singles (45 RPM) primarily dating from the 1970s and 1980s, reflecting popular music of the period. The lot features a specialty shaped vinyl record by Wham! presented in a clear plastic sleeve, designed as a large, stylized blue and white letter W. Other featured artists include Queen, represented by a single in a picture sleeve featuring a group photograph, Pink Floyd (Another Brick In The Wall Part II on the Harvest label), and Fleetwood Mac (Big Love). The collection also contains singles by Eurythmics (Would I Lie To You?), Oran Juice Jones (The Rain), Colonel Abrams (Trapped on the MCA Records label), Irene Cara (Fame on the RSO label), Art Garfunkel (Bright Eyes on the CBS orange label), and Mel and Kim (Showing Out on the CBS yellow label). The records are housed in a mix of original picture sleeves, generic sleeves, and record company sleeves from labels including Arista and CBS. One sleeve for Mel and Kim features hand-annotated notes. The entire collection is contained within a red floral-patterned cardboard storage box with a typed label reading Vinyl. These are original commercial pressings consistent with the United Kingdom domestic music market of the late 20th century.
Condition report:
The sleeves show signs of age and handling, including notable creasing, edge wear, and ring wear. Significant staining and foxing are visible on the Mel and Kim and Eurythmics sleeves. The vinyl discs are in used condition, with visual inspection revealing light surface scratches, dust, and fingerprints. They are generally in Good (G) to Very Good (VG) condition by standard record collecting grades; professional cleaning is recommended. The storage box is in fair condition with some surface wear.
