Lot 630: Two Vintage Fishing Reels including an Allcock Nottingham Style Wooden Reel
A collection of two vintage fishing reels. The first is a Nottingham-style reel constructed from a polished hardwood, likely mahogany, featuring a brass star-back and brass foot. The spool is detailed with four circular perforations, with a partial printed label for Allcock visible within one vent. It is fitted with twin composite handles on almond-shaped brass plates. The second is a dark composite centre-pin reel, possibly Bakelite, featuring a white metal foot and a central screw-type latch. Faint embossed lettering is present in an arc on the face, though the characters are indistinct.
Condition report:
Both items exhibit signs of age and use, including surface wear, scuffing, and oxidation to the metal components. The wooden reel shows minor surface scratches to the wood and oxidation to the brass fittings. The composite reel shows surface wear and oxidation to the white metal foot.
