Lot 652: Mid-20th century electric desk fan with flexible rubber blades
A vintage electric desk fan featuring a streamlined teardrop-shaped motor housing and a pedestal base. The unit is constructed from painted metal with a cream enamel finish. It is equipped with four rounded flexible blades in a forest green finish, a design typically referred to as a safety fan. The fan is fitted with a grey two-core power cable and a modern white plastic UK three-pin plug. A handwritten paper label is attached to one blade reading 2927 Old mains fan that still works. An auction sticker from Liskeard Auction Room for Lot 652 is present on another blade, and a small numerical sticker 2927 is adhered to the base. No manufacturer marks, logos, or technical specification plates are visible on the exterior of the unit.
Condition report:
The fan shows significant signs of age and use. There is extensive paint chipping and wear to the enamel on the motor housing and base, exposing the underlying metal. The flexible blades exhibit surface scuffs and minor discolouration. While a handwritten note indicates the item is in working order, it is sold as a collector item and requires professional safety testing (PAT testing) before use.
