Lot 1005: An early 20th-century Jacobean Revival carved oak side table
An early 20th-century Jacobean Revival oak side table, also suitable for use as a console or hall table. The piece is constructed from solid oak with a rectangular top featuring a prominent dentil-carved front edge. The frieze is fitted with two drawers, each decorated with deeply carved panels depicting foliate scrolls and stylised floral motifs. The side stiles are further embellished with carved imbricated detailing. The table is raised on four barley-twist legs, terminating in block feet and connected by two side stretchers. No maker’s marks or labels are present.
Condition report:
The table is in a used, as-found condition consistent with its age. Surface wear is evident, including scuffs, scratches, and minor knocks to the top edge, legs, and block feet. Both drawers are missing their original hardware, leaving small circular holes in the carved fronts. There is a noticeable accumulation of dust and surface dirt within the recessed areas of the carvings and the barley-twist legs. The piece appears to be structurally sound.
