Lot 1016: A large late 20th-century Chinese style hardwood two-piece display cabinet with Shou carvings
A large two-piece display cabinet in the Chinese taste, constructed from a hardwood with a rich reddish-brown finish. The upper section is fitted with four glazed doors, each housing adjustable glass shelves within. The lower base section contains three central drawers and two side cupboards. Each of the lower cupboard doors is decorated with a large, centrally carved circular Shou longevity symbol in relief. The drawers are fitted with brass swan-neck handles, while the doors feature small brass lever-style pull handles. The construction comprises a glazed upper unit resting on a cupboard base. A small white rectangular sticker with the black printed characters 1016 is located on the right-hand side of the upper section. No manufacturer marks or cabinet maker stamps are visible.
Condition report:
The cabinet is in good overall condition. There is minor surface wear, including light scuffs and scratches to the wood finish, consistent with age and domestic use. The glazing and internal glass shelves are present and free from visible cracks or significant damage. All brass hardware is intact and functional.
