Lot 1019: Two Framed John Wayne Prints Including Stuart Coffield Artistic Portrait and The Cowboys Film Promotional Poster
Two framed prints depicting the American actor John Wayne. The first item is a colour art print titled The Duke by artist Stuart Coffield, featuring a portrait of Wayne in western dress superimposed over a desert landscape featuring mesas characteristic of Monument Valley. The print is signed S. Coffield. in the lower right corner and is housed in a dark reddish-brown wood-effect frame. The second item is a sepia-toned promotional print for the 1972 film The Cowboys. The subject is a full-length portrait of Wayne in costume holding a lever-action rifle against a wooden background. The text at the bottom of the print reads JOHN WAYNE THE COWBOYS in serif capitals. This print is mounted with a white border and housed in a dark wood-effect frame with a gold-tone inner fillet. Both items are glazed.
Condition report:
The prints appear to be in good condition with no evidence of foxing, staining, or fading. The frames show minor surface wear and light scuffing to the edges consistent with age and previous handling. The glass is intact on both items.
