Lot 140: A Vintage Avon Outboard Motor Transom Mount
A mid-20th century marine accessory, identified as a transom motor mount for an inflatable boat, likely manufactured by Avon. The construction consists of a solid rectangular block of hardwood, possibly teak, which is secured by four screws through metal mounting plates to a grey-painted tubular steel frame. The frame features two arching side supports joined by a single lower cross-stretcher with welded joints. The wooden component is stamped with the characters C9/10 in black ink. There is a small white adhesive label marked 140 and a larger handwritten paper label that includes the text SHARP MOTORSAILING.
Condition report:
The item is in used condition, showing signs of wear consistent with age and marine environments. There are surface scratches, scuffs, and finish loss to the wooden block. The grey-painted metal frame shows typical scuffs and minor areas of paint loss.
