Lot 156: Two pieces of matching green painted slatted wooden garden furniture

The auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £3

Estimated price: £5

Buyer's Premium:

A lot comprising two pieces of matching traditional slatted wooden garden furniture, finished in green paint. The first item is a fixed-frame garden armchair featuring a slatted high back, a slatted seat, and straight armrests. The second item is a matching folding garden chair with a slatted seat and backrest, featuring a circular cutout in the centre of the seat intended as a hand-hold for transport. Both pieces are constructed from wood and exhibit a utilitarian style typical of British garden furniture. No maker’s marks, stamps, or labels are present on either piece to indicate a specific manufacturer. A small white rectangular sticker with the black printed numerals 156 is located on the top rail of the folding chair, identified as an auction lot label.

Condition report:

Both items are in a significantly weathered condition consistent with prolonged outdoor exposure. The green paint finish is heavily flaked and peeling across all surfaces, exposing the underlying weathered grey wood. Visible green algae and moss growth are present, particularly on the horizontal surfaces and between the slats. Small amounts of garden debris are present within the frames. While the items appear structurally sound, they require complete stripping and refinishing to restore their appearance.
