Lot 161: A Group of Black Painted Iron and Steel Fireplace Accessories
A group of black-painted iron and steel fireplace accessories of modern manufacture, designed in a traditional style. The collection includes a companion set consisting of a brush, a shovel, and a pair of tongs, all held on a three-footed stand with a central carrying handle. The tool handles are finished with cast decorative faceted finials, and the shafts are constructed from wrought steel. The lot also contains a coal bucket fabricated from sheet metal with a bale handle, an additional fire shovel, a pair of black protective hearth gauntlets, and two boxes of Zip brand firelighters. No manufacturer marks or attributions are visible on the metalwork.
Condition report:
All items are in used condition. There is visible wear to the black-painted finish, specifically on the shovel heads and tool ends, consistent with regular use. Light surface oxidation and ash residue are present throughout the metal components. The gauntlets show signs of wear and use.
