Lot 170: A Collection of Weathered Cast Stone Garden Animal Ornaments
An assortment of garden ornaments cast from reconstituted stone, including figures of a tortoise, a seated terrier, and frogs. The tortoise is modelled with a textured carapace. The terrier, resembling a West Highland White Terrier, is depicted in a seated pose with remnants of white and black decorative finish. The frogs include a larger figure with traces of green and yellow paint and a smaller unpainted figure in a seated position. These items are characteristic of mid to late 20th-century outdoor statuary. No maker’s marks or factory stamps are present.
Condition report:
All items exhibit significant weathering commensurate with outdoor use, including a natural patina of moss, lichen, and algae. The painted figures show heavy flaking and loss to the original finishes. Minor chips to the edges of the cast stone are present, but no major structural cracks or repairs are visible.
