Lot 376: A Vintage Morphy-Richards Hair Vanity Portable Hair Dryer Set
A Morphy-Richards Hair Vanity portable hood hair dryer set. The set is housed in a cream-coloured textured vinyl suitcase-style carrying case with a pink quilted and dotted fabric lining. The main blower unit is constructed from pink plastic and features three white rocker switches for temperature and speed control. A silvered metal plate on the unit is marked MORPHY-RICHARDS and a gold-toned script above reads Hair vanity. A smaller silver plate is marked NAIL DRYING. Switch labels include COLD, LOW, MED, and HIGH. The set includes a flexible plastic air hose, a pink lace-patterned fabric drying hood, and a plastic comb attachment. The interior of the lid features a small mirror and a gathered pocket for accessories. The unit is fitted with a standard UK three-pin plug.
Condition report:
The exterior case shows surface marks, scuffs, and age-related discolouration. Metal hinges and the front clasp exhibit signs of oxidation and tarnish. The interior pink fabric lining shows light staining and wear. The mirror is heavily affected by desilvering and white residue across much of its surface. The electrical components have not been tested for functionality and the item is sold as a decorative or historical collectible.
