The auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £12

Estimated price: £15

Buyer's Premium:

A substantial collection of novelty ceramic tableware and decorative items, primarily dating to the 1930s. The group is largely attributed to Japanese Marutomo Ware, featuring characteristic rustic and cottage-style designs intended for the export and souvenir markets. The assortment includes multiple salt and pepper shaker sets and preserve pots in various forms, including thatched cottages, windmills, beehives, and multi-storey houses. Figurative elements include a woman in a sunbonnet and a man with a horse-drawn cart laden with fruit. Several preserve pots are shaped as birdhouses with red bird finials or rustic wooden tubs. The pieces are made of glazed earthenware with hand-painted decoration over moulded details in a vibrant palette of greens, ochre yellows, earthy browns, and reds. One white-glazed item features the inscription A Present from Falmouth, indicating its origin as a British seaside souvenir. The lot includes a vendor tag for Vendor 932 and an auction lot tag for Lot 551.

Condition report:

The items appear to be in generally good condition for their age. Bidders should note typical glaze crazing and minor surface wear across the collection. There are occasional small chips to the delicate moulded edges of some pieces. No major cracks or structural repairs are visible.
