Lot 558: Mid-20th Century Combat Dagger Attributed to Kinfolks
A mid-20th-century double-edged combat dagger, attributed to Kinfolks or similar American manufacturers such as Case or Western. The weapon features a spear-point blade and a hilt constructed with a stacked leather washer grip. The grip is accented by red and black decorative spacers positioned at both the guard and the pommel. The crossguard is of a simple oval design, fashioned from brass or steel. The hilt is finished with a heavy, solid aluminium pommel cap, which is secured to the tang via a recessed nut. This style of construction was typical for private-purchase military knives and commercial hunting patterns produced in the United States during the 1940s and 1950s. No maker marks are currently visible on the ricasso or blade surface.
Condition report:
The blade is in poor condition, exhibiting extensive surface rust, heavy oxidation, and deep pitting across both faces. The edges appear blunt and worn. The hilt remains in fair condition; the leather washers are intact and remain tight on the tang. The aluminium pommel and guard show surface wear, scratches, and patination consistent with age and use. The guard is slightly misshapen. No scabbard is present.
