Lot 746: A contemporary decorative carved and painted wood twelve-bottle wine rack and side table
A contemporary decorative wine rack and side table of upright rectangular form, constructed from painted wood and composite materials. The unit is finished in a two-tone palette of deep burgundy and bright red. The front features a central vertical panel carved in relief with a grapevine motif, surmounted by an applied carved bunch of grapes painted in green and blue. The sides are pierced with tall, arched apertures. The rectangular top is finished in white and decorated with a printed or hand-painted design of grapevines and clusters of purple grapes. The interior is fitted with four tiers of scalloped horizontal rails, providing storage capacity for twelve bottles. This is a single-piece item. No manufacturer marks or labels are visible on the piece. It currently bears two auction house lot labels: one handwritten 654 and a printed label for Liskeard Auction Rooms, Lot 746.
Condition report:
The painted finish shows minor scuffing and wear to the edges consistent with use. The decorative finish on the top surface shows some signs of wear and minor lifting.
