Lot 886: A machine-woven runner rug in the Persian Bakhtiari style, attributed to Unique Loom
This machine-woven runner rug is designed in the Persian Bakhtiari Khesti or panel style, closely resembling the Sialk Hill collection by Unique Loom. The field is composed of a grid of individual rectangular compartments, each containing distinct stylized botanical or geometric motifs, including floral sprays and geometric medallions. The central field is enclosed within a repeating border featuring octagonal and geometric symbols. The colour palette comprises a deep madder red, cream, tan, ochre, and black. The rug is constructed with a synthetic pile, likely polypropylene, on a uniform machine-made foundation. The edges are finished with a red overcast surged stitch. A temporary auction lot tag numbered 1080 is present, but no permanent maker labels or signatures are visible on the reverse.
Condition report:
The rug shows signs of moderate use. There are visible areas of surface marking and pile crushing, particularly noticeable within the lighter cream sections of the panels. The edges and pile appear generally intact with no significant fraying or structural damage observed.
