Lot 923: A mid-20th century Jacobean revival oak chest of drawers
An oak chest of drawers in the Jacobean revival style, dating from the early to mid-20th century. The chest features a two-over-two configuration consisting of two short drawers over two long graduated drawers. The drawer fronts are fitted with circular metal drop-ring handles on round backplates. The piece is raised on turned legs joined by a square-section box stretcher, sitting on small metal castors. The primary timber is oak with a dark finish. No maker marks or manufacturer attributions are visible. The item bears a modern auction house label for Liskeard Auction Rooms (Lot 923) and a small handwritten paper tag.
Condition report:
Poor to fair. There is a significant white gouge and scuff mark on the front rail between the top and middle drawers. The right-hand side panel has a large horizontal split and separation. The top surface and drawer fronts show general wear, including scratches, water marks, and fading to the finish consistent with age and use.
