Lot 1023: A Trio of Framed Sets of Reproduction Postcards
A collection of three framed sets of postcards, with each frame containing four individual cards. The first set comprises four reproduction postcards of vintage French railway travel posters for Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. These include advertisements for the Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée (PLM) line, with text referencing winter sports such as ski-luge-patin-bobsleigh and local landmarks including the Mer de Glace. The second set features four reproduction postcards of iconic French Belle Époque advertising posters. This group includes a depiction of the Moulin Rouge after Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Motocycles Comiot after Théophile Steinlen, and an advertisement for De Dion-Bouton automobiles. The third set contains four postcards focused on Portuguese architectural and decorative elements, specifically featuring traditional blue and white azulejo tilework and ornate door and window surrounds. All cards are mounted on dark cardstock within wood-effect frames that feature a gilt inner border and are protected by glazing.
