Lot 1048: A Trio of Maritime and Coastal Watercolours by G. Harper, Russell Thomas, and others
This collection comprises three framed maritime-themed works on paper by various hands. The first piece is a coastal beach scene featuring figures on the sand and a distant lighthouse, executed in watercolour with gouache highlights on textured paper; it is signed G. HARPER in the lower left. The second work, on a heavily textured paper with a woven appearance, depicts a bustling port with various vessels and fortifications; it is inscribed THE GRAND HARBOUR – MALTA in the lower left and bears the monogram JF in the lower right. The third piece is an atmospheric tonalist watercolour in monochromatic blue-grey washes showing a sweeping coastal promenade; it is signed RUSSELL THOMAS in the lower right. The works are housed in gilt and blue-washed wooden frames with deep-coloured mounts. One frame bears an auction room lot tag numbered 1048.
