Lot 124: A large 20th-century salt-glazed stoneware planter in the French confit pot style
A large salt-glazed stoneware planter or storage vessel, produced in the manner of a traditional French confit pot. The vessel features an ovoid body with a wide flared rim and two small applied lug handles. The exterior is finished with a buff-coloured salt glaze, displaying a characteristic orange-peel texture. The interior is coated in a smooth honey-coloured glaze with visible circular throwing lines from the manufacturing process. An abstract mark in a dark blue or purple pigment is present on the interior base, consisting of a broad brushstroke forming a stylised open circle or C-shape. No other maker marks, stamps, or incised characters are visible on the body or base.
