Lot 519: A Trio of English Ceramic Wares comprising two SylvaC planters and a Portmeirion canister
A collection of three English ceramic items featuring pieces by SylvaC and Portmeirion. The group includes a large SylvaC pedestal jardiniere of round form with high relief scrolling foliate and acanthus leaf decoration, finished in a glossy variegated ochre and dark brown glaze. The base bears the impressed marks 4613, SYLVAC, and MADE IN ENGLAND, and retains a blue and white foil manufacturer label. Also included is a SylvaC trough-style planter in the form of a moulded bark-effect log with a small squirrel figure, finished in pink and green glazes. It is marked to the base with a script SylvaC signature and impressed number 339. The final piece is a Portmeirion Botanic Garden storage canister designed by Susan Williams-Ellis, decorated with the Veronica Chamaedrys (Speedwell) transfer-printed motif and fitted with a turned wooden lid. The base features the comprehensive green printed manufacturer mark including care instructions for dishwasher and microwave use.
