Lot 547: A Collection of James Kent Old Foley Gilt Floral Ceramics and a Decorative Metal-Framed Serving Tray
A collection of James Kent Old Foley earthenware ceramics and a rectangular serving tray. The ceramics are decorated in the Old Foley pattern, featuring yellow rose transfers and white blossoms against a dense gold-tone floral filigree ground. The pieces include a footed cake stand, a serving bowl, and several fruit bowls, all with scalloped and gilt rims. Underside marks identify the maker as James Kent Ltd of Staffordshire, England. The metal-framed serving tray features twin handles and four spherical feet, housing an inset panel decorated with a bird perched amongst multi-coloured flowers. The reverse of the tray panel is marked with the handwritten inscription Dec: 1564.
