Lot 569: A Trio of 1950s Fashion Lady Handmade Hindu Costume Dolls
A trio of vintage handmade costume dolls, each mounted on a rectangular black-painted wooden base. The set comprises two Hindu dolls in traditional Indian saris and one doll in Japanese attire. One Indian doll is dressed in a burnt-orange textile with gold-toned borders and a matching purse, while the other wears a light brown textile with dark patterned borders and a green purse. Both dolls feature hand-painted facial details, dark hair, and are adorned with miniature jewellery, including necklaces and bangles. The Japanese doll is dressed in a floral-patterned orange and white kimono with a dark patterned obi and traditional hair accessories. The underside of one base bears the incised mark FASHION LADY. The collection is attributed to the 1950s based on handwritten vendor notation.
